The 400 Mile Weekend
It’s becoming somewhat of a feature of my life to drive for about 400-600 miles on any given weekend. The only time I see that changing is at the end of August, when I’ll drive about 500 miles a month. Hopefully. I’ll still have a couple concerts to play for a month or two.
So where do my journeys take me? Multiple states once again.
On Thursday I drove 85 miles to Gilford and back for a rehearsal. Friday was a little 45 minute jaunt to Charlestown for a concert and back. Saturday I drove to Merrimack, then Londonderry. We went to see a very fabulous show called Alegria, by the Cirque du Soleil company, and it was lovely. It’s nice to see the top 0.1% of people in their profession doing amazing things once in a while.
This morning it was from Londonderry to Lemonister and points south in Mass for a rehearsal (which went very well) for a wedding on Saturday. Then it was turn around and drive back up to Manchester for a concert, the one I rehearsed for on Thursday. Except it really wasn’t; the music was all completely different parts and they had me playing piccolo almost half the time. My mouth is hurting, a little.
But I wasn’t done driving, no no. I then went to Litchfield to bring my girlfriend back her borrowed baseball cap (thank you!) and see her before heading home for some much needed rest and nourishment. And there’s still more driving to be had, since I have to return to Keene tonight.
So call it about 450 miles.
Nascar doesn’t impress me. I can drive 500 miles in a weekend too.
In other news:
- Ringtones are just annoying, but vibrate mode is often easy to miss. How about an ultrasonic ringtone?
- Nascar may not impress, but Grand Prix at 1500 FPS sure does.
- See how people spend their hard earned dollars.
